CPR, First Aid, and Quarterly Training 1/27/06

There will be a CPR/First Aid Training on Saturday, January 27, at 10 am at the Community Barn, followed by a Quarterly Training from 12 to 3. Lunch will be provided.

Space for the CPR Training will be limited to 35 people, so please RSPV to me as soon as possible if you plan on attending.

The attached file contains everyone who needs CPR or First Aid Training. The entire training will take under two hours, so if you need just one of the two, I would recommend attending the entire training to have both on the same date.. If you would like to attend only part of the session, let me know when you RSVP and I will contact you with what time to attend.

There will be other opportunities for CPR/First Aid in the coming months, and there are also regular opportunities to join a class offered by our provider. If you need to be certified but will be unable to make the training on the 27th, let me know and we will look at getting you into a class.

Quote of the Month

Kurt Vonnegut, from a 1973 interview in Playboy:
Playboy: Is there any religion you consider superior to any other?

Vonnegut: Alcoholics Anonymous. Alcoholics Anonymous gives you an extended family that's very close to a blood brotherhood, because everybody has endured the same catastrophe. And one of the enchanting aspects of Alcoholics Anonymous is that many people join who aren't drunks, who pretend to be drunks because the social and spiritual benefits are so large. But they talk about real troubles, which aren't spoken about in church, as a rule.

December Employee of the Month

This month we have two employees of the month--Ashley Jackson and Mary Ragland. (Mary was announced earlier this week.)

Ashley just finished leading staff and residents in getting out the holiday mailing in record time. She's unfailingly warm and polite with prospective clients and their families, even when they are at their worst. Thanks Ashley!

DF Staff Schooling EMU

I wanted to acknowledge a few of our staff who have done some education with EMU students recently.

Charles Coleman recently spoke on a panel on diversity and Charles, Alisa Pounds and Matt Statman recently presented on addiction and Dawn Farm.

I was approached by 3 different faculty and several students to tell me that they were not good--they were GREAT. Their time and energy was very appreciated by the faculty and students.

Thanks for doing Dawn Farm proud!
