The Original Farmhouse
|
Dawn Farm provides a continuum of quality services for men and women with drug and alcohol problems. Dawn Farm often provides a last hope for young addicts and alcoholics who have run out of options. Since 1973, Farm programs have offered help-never turning people away for lack of funds.
Dawn Farm programs produce results. We measure short and long-term client success, client satisfaction and other program outcomes. We are constantly using evaluation measures to improve the quality and effectiveness of our services. Dawn Farm is a tax exempt, not-for-profit organization under Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Programs are licensed by the State of Michigan and accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
Dawn Farm Mission Statement
The goal of Dawn Farm is to assist addicts and
alcoholics in achieving long term recovery.
Dawn Farm will identify and remove barriers that prevent
addicts and alcoholics from joining the recovering community.
Core Values
Client-centered treatment
Our first goal is to be client-centered.
We believe that a path exists between the addict and the community of recovering individuals. If isolated addicts or alcoholics are enabled to connect with and join this community, they have a high likelihood of success. Dawn Farm sees itself as a barrier remover-utilizing our capacity as an organization to help individuals enter the community.
Addiction is a disease
Chemical dependency is a disease that can be treated, and recovery is available to individuals regardless of their drug of abuse. We believe that our clients can develop a lifestyle of honesty and recovery through abstinence and involvement with others who share this disease. We do not consider one addiction more difficult to address than another.
Alcoholics Anonymous
We are convinced that the steps and principles of Alcoholics Anonymous offer the greatest hope for recovery from addiction. Dawn Farm has grown progressively more convinced of the effectiveness of the recovering community in caring for those who suffer. We emphasize the importance of lifelong recovery-attending 12 step meetings, getting a sponsor, service work, and helping others.
Treating the disadvantaged
A unique feature of Dawn Farm's mission has been the continued provision of care for individuals who lack financial resources. The philosophy is simple-no individual will be denied services for lack of insurance or other funds. No one is turned away for lack of resources.
Accepting the "hard cases"
By helping primarily indigent clients, Dawn Farm naturally admits a large proportion of "high risk" clients. Dawn Farm admits a higher-than-average percentage of women, minorities, IV drug addicts, etc. Underserved populations are an important part of fulfilling Dawn Farm's mission.
The importance of work and accountability
Dawn Farm believes in personal accountability, a belief which expresses itself in many aspects of treatment. Clients are required to take significant responsibility for all areas of their lives and to participate in meaningful work while in treat-ment. Though the 74 acre farm is the most obvious example of this practice, our other Farm programs incorporate similar approaches.
Programs for people
Dawn Farm programs are developed based upon the needs of the client-not the needs of a funding source-and additional funds are raised, as necessary. By responding to client need rather than external limits, Dawn Farm can provide quality services and evaluate program effectiveness without outside control by funders.
