2005-2006 Dawn Farm Education Series

The 2005/2006 Dawn Farm Public Education Series ended last night. The series was a big success again. Here are some of the highlights:
  • We had total of 817 attendees for the entire series with an average of 41 attendees per workshop. That's a 53% increase in attendance!
  • We had 685 feeback forms submitted with 94% of all feedback being positive.
  • Attendees came from 11 Michigan counties and two other states.
  • 57% of attendees identified themselves as a family member of an addict or alcoholic, 34% identified themselves as an addict or alcoholic, 17% identified themselves as a professional helper, and 13% identified themselves as a student.
Thanks to all of our presenters and a special thanks to volunteer Jess Antanaitis.
The 2006/2007 Public Education Series will begin in October. Information will be posted this summer.

Golf outing benefits Dawn Farm

On Saturday, June 3, a golf outing was held at the Pineview Golf Course as a fundraiser for Dawn Farm, the Ypsilanti Fire Departmemt, and the Ypsilanti Township Public Library. U&I Cleaners were the organizers of this fabulous event and made a donation of more than $1000 to Dawn Farm. It was a great day enjoyed by all!

We would like to thank U&I Cleaners in the Paint Creek Shopping Center for organizing this event.

2006 Annual Report

We've posted our Dawn Farm 2006 Annual Report. Please check it out. We have the usual overview of our program activities and outcomes for the last year, but this year we also included a document entitled "What We Believe." This document concisely summarizes much of what we've learned over the last 33 years. We hope you'll take the time to read it.

Community Barn Update

The community barn is coming along well. It was painted last week by volunteer Brian Gamache. It looks great! Thanks Brian!

We're hoping that it will be ready to use sometime in July. We can't wait.

Treatment On Demand: Detox White Paper

Dawn Farm Detox had 1144 admissions last year, with over 1600 entries on our waiting list. We've been working since April of 2000 on expanding treatment and recovery support options for homeless people in Washtenaw County. We've developed this white paper to help educate community about the problem and propose a solution. If you have any questions, please contact us.
