About the Dawn Farm Education Series
What is it? The Dawn Farm Education Series is a FREE, annual workshop series developed to provide accurate, helpful, hopeful, practical, current information about chemical dependency, recovery, family and related issues; and to dispel the myths, misinformation, secrecy, shame and stigma that prevent chemically dependent individuals and their families from getting help and getting well. All Education Series programs are free, and are open to anyone interested in attending.
The 2007/2008 series includes NEW workshops in addition to revisiting previous favorites, and will have both veteran and new presenters! A description of the workshops can be accessed here. A flier can be accessed here.
Who is it for? People in recovery, people interested in recovery, family members/friends and others affected by chemical dependency, people who work with chemically dependent individuals, students, anyone interested in any topic for any reason – ALL ARE WELCOME! The Education Series provides information designed to help people with alcoholism or other addictions to achieve, maintain and strengthen their recovery; assist family members and friends to understand and support recovery in people they care about as well as maintain their own health and well-being; aid professionals and students in various disciplines to work effectively with chemically dependent individuals and their families and support their recovery process; and contribute to a community culture supportive of recovery.

Are recordings available?
Dawn Farm make audio recordings of two Education Series programs, and these are available to the public. Please see the "handouts" column on our education series workshops page to access audio recordings. Due to technical difficulties, we do not plan to record any more presentations this year. We hope to record several presentations in the 2008/2009 series.
Additional programs of interest: The Dawn Farm Education Series alternates with Teens Using Drugs: What To Know and What To Do - a FREE, two-part workshop series on identifying and helping young people who are harmfully involved with alcohol and/or other drugs. This series is presented by our friend Ron Harrison, SW, and is co-sponsored by Dawn Farm, along with the Livingston/Washtenaw Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities Act Consortium and Saint Joseph Mercy Health System Mission Services.
