Chapin Street Project
 98 homeless residents got off the street in 2002, most were sober & independent a year later. FIVE HOUSES/18 APARTMENTS!!! More than 60 people affordably housed each night and connected to a clean and sober community. Nearly 300 people have been helped in this program over the last 5 years!

Chapin Street Project - Transitional Housing
In April 1998, Dawn Farm opened its first transitional house for homeless addicted men- Chapin Street House. In November 1998, Dawn Farm opened a second transitional house. In August 1999 we purchased the 18-unit Cedar Park Apartments.
In recent years we completed the successful permanent acquisition and rehabilitation of 112 Chapin Street, 410 High Street and 343 Beakes Street, utilizing leveraged funds from a variety of sources, including City of Ann Arbor HOME Funds, Washtenaw County Government, Ann Arbor DDA, MSHDA, Michigan Housing Trust Fund and the Federal Home Loan Bank. We have purchased and rehabilitated these houses to establish them as permanent, self-supporting transitional sites..
In May a fire destroyed the old farmhouse which was being used as a transitional house for homeless men. We have recently secured a replacement duplex on Brookridge in Ann Arbor, as well as the new women's house on Normal Street in Ypsilanti. We now house more than 80 individuals in the Chapin Street Project.
This outreach has already helped hundreds of individuals find a safe way out of addiction. The Chapin Street Project is a practical, effective approach to the serious problem of addiction among our homeless population. This unique Dawn Farm outreach provides sober, supportive transitional housing for homeless individuals, and demonstrates effective ways to get people off the streets.
